Site Overview
Island sites with an interwoven history
The sea god Manannan is the visitors' guide on a journey through scenes from the Isle of Man’s history. Included are a family discussion in a Viking longhouse and an atmospheric explanation of the artwork on the Manx Crosses.
There’s a chance to experience a flavour of life in the Norse-ruled Kingdom of Man and the Isles and to see the replica Viking ship, Odin’s Raven, dressed in the aftermath of battle.
All of the Viking-Age sites on the island share an interwoven history. To experience the full Manx Viking story, a visit to all of the following sites is recommended:
- Peel Castle
- Castle Rushen
- Rushen Abbey
- Manx Crosses
- Balladoole
- Cronk ny Merriu

Artefacts from many of these sites can be seen at the Manx Museum and the House of Manannan.
